Dee-dong!

Last night, Pietro, was watching Amedeo while I was making dinner. Who knew he was so hilarious?!?

Today we went to Lindsey's Lounge, and drank some delish mojitos. It was my first tasting of this beverage...now it is my new favorite! Too bad summer is practically over.

Busy weekend

We had some friends over for lunch on Saturday...midday seems to be the best time to socialize. We thought Amedeo would be up and terrorizing everyone throughout the meal, but he slept through the whole thing.

On Sunday, we went to a birthday party and had some delicious chocolate cake...unfortunately they sent us home with some, and I've eaten my second helping a few minutes ago.

This morning, I dropped Amedeo off at Grandma's house so I could take two of our cats to the vet for their shots. I'm not sure how we're going to spend the rest of the day...I need to return some stuff to the Children's Place at Arundle Mills.

These pics were taken last weekend...I can't keep up with the blogging and the pics...

Messy messy messy

Amedeo's first teething biscuit. He enjoyed it very much...I really should have put a bib on him. Oh well...

I swear, he chewed on the thing for twenty minutes straight. After that, he'd take it out of his mouth and mash it on his socks.

Zero Balancing

Our dear little babe had his first session of Zero Balancing today. It's an energy modality...almost like acupuncture, but without the needles. (Yes, it's a little on the woo-woo-boogie-woogie side, but hell, I'll try ANYTHING to get back on track.) I had lots of acupuncture when I was pregnant, but stopped after the birth. A friend of my mom's mentioned that some ZB might help balance him and hopefully help with the sleeping, eating, reflux, and general crankiness.

I learned that Amedeo is a cognitive baby (versus physical, emotional...etc). He gazes at everything intently and is very high in Shin energy. His kidney chakras were blocked/closed, so there was a disconnect between the upper and lower body. Mostly, this is due to the fact that he isn't crawling or walking. Karl assured us that he would feel better and sleep better when he became more mobile. The lower half of his body doesn't have a 'purpose' right now, so the energy doesn't move as freely. I can help him by doing some foot massage and by holding some points on the bottoms of his feet.

One of the other things I can do to help Amedeo is take care of myself. Karl didn't charge us for the session with the requirement that I return without the babe and have a session myself. Apparently, I'm a little tense. (duh!) And, my tension is reflected in the baby. I made an appointment for next Saturday. I admit that I'm really looking forward to it! I loved acupuncture...I definitely have a hard time relaxing.

He also gave me contact info for an herbal pharmacist who might be able to help with the reflux.

Ok, enough of the blah blah blah and chicken waving....

Hopefully, we can change this....

To this....
And this....

7 months old

Yesterday, Amedeo turned 7 months old! When he was a newborn, I thought that at some magical age in the future, babies got easier. It's true to a certain extent, but I feel like I was hoping for something that doesn't exist. There isn't a perfect age when all the ducks are in a row...reflux, sleeping, moodiness, eating, whatever the next fun thing is.

At 7 months, I know my baby better and can better respond to him, but his overall personality remains the same. I suppose I sound like an bad mom, moaning over all the little things that aren't right, and I am complaining a little bit. (Gee, Brenna, you didn't know being a mom was going to be hard?!?) Fortunately, the little things that aren't right are just that...little problems. We don't have any big issues right now. And, as has been said in the past...he's a darn cute little fellow!

Now, as Amedeo is getting older, he's getting some competition for attention. Our three cats have been extremely gracious, giving up their status as heads of the household. But, now, there is a little coup forming....and the question is, who's going to win the election? Violet or Amedeo???

Still Weird...

This past weekend was nice. We went for (I'm guessing here) a 4-5 mile walk in the woods around Wilde Lake. My hamstrings are still a little sore...so lame is my physical fitness. The walk itself was gorgeous!

There was a very nice get together at Archana's house...she was extremely brave and had tons of babies and parents at her house for an indoor bbq.

Pietro took Amedeo for a while and I did some sewing! I made a bib (for A.). I really should do some sewing for me, but I had the fabric for that and it's easy. I'll have to post pics of that later. We already broke the bib in...it's covered in avocado.

Yesterday, we met with the bathroom designer. I picked some tiles out. We've got the samples here at home, but I don't like them as much in the house...so I think we'll need to wander around Home Expo to get some other ideas.

Today, we had a lovely time at Emily's house (#2). At least, I had fun...A. is cutting his second tooth and is tired, so I think he had less fun...well, I don't think he had any fun at all. No pics for now...maybe later.

Teeth!

Well, folks, he has been a little weird this week...not interested in sleeping or eating, and now I think we know why!!! He has cut a tooth! I gave him a peeled, washed carrot to chew on. It was nice and cold from the fridge, so I think he enjoyed it. Now, I guess breastfeeding gets even more interesting.
